Selma SayreNote from author:
One thing we can be sure of in life is change. In
1976, when the Shining Self was written, I was adjusting to life as a
widow, moving from a beautiful home on the waterfront and living alone.
While in a quandary of where to go and what to do, I took my cat and a
typewriter and went to the beach for a week.
Day and night the beauty of nature surrounded me. One morning, while
sitting at the typewriter, sadness turned to appreciation and thanksgiving
when the words “You never are alone” flowed into my consciousness. A
feeling of inner peace enveloped me as I wrote what became The Shining
Self.
A friend praised and edited the work. In 1979, the School of Inner
Research, a division of the non-profit corporation World Affiliated
Services, published a limited number of copies to be used in workshops and
distributed locally. Some books were distributed in other parts of the
U.S., Latin America, India and Africa. Twenty years later while moving,
several boxes of The Shining Self were found in the attic. A limited
supply of books with an original gold picture (prohibitively expensive
now) of the Shining Self are being sold on this site.
There is no better time than now to heed the words of the chapter on
“Inner and Outer Beauty” that state: “The time has come for the true
beauty of the radiant Shining Self residing within you to be released.”
